What is the difference between UV & Red Light?
Many people are familiar with tanning beds that use UV light to darken the skin and stimulate vitamin D production. However, UV light is also widely recognized for its harmful effects—contributing to skin damage, premature aging, and even increasing the risk of skin cancer. For this reason, organizations like the American Cancer Society recommend using sunscreen to block UV exposure. While UV has specific medical applications, it’s generally best avoided for wellness purposes.
The ReGen Pod completely avoids UV wavelengths. Instead, it uses Red (637nm) and Near-Infrared (NIR) light, both of which fall within the therapeutic window and offer safe, evidence-backed benefits.
Red light (637nm) is visible and widely used in cosmetic treatments. It supports skin health, promotes collagen production, aids in wound healing, and helps manage conditions like dermatitis. Its visibility also provides users a clear indication when therapy is active.
Near-Infrared light, especially at 810nm, offers the deepest penetration into tissue of any wavelength. Unlike thermal energy, it triggers a photochemical reaction—activating cellular functions without heat. This makes it ideal for deep therapeutic applications.

In contrast, Infrared light above ~950nm is primarily used in surgical lasers due to its strong thermal effect—it heats tissue, rather than stimulating it chemically.
